Products can be updated in bulk via an automated import or manually in either CSV or XML format, this is commonly used to update prices and stock levels.

You can have multiple automated update files configured at the same time providing that they are named uniquely. An example of when this might be useful could be if you wish to update stock more frequently to prices. Automation frequency can be set at daily, hourly and 15 minute.

The file that is configured for this automated update only needs to include the product code (unique identifier) and any fields that you wish to update, it would also be a benefit if the file provided was a 'change file'. A change file would only include products that require updating, not the whole database.

The file to be imported to your LiquidShop must be placed in your FTP area, it can be placed where you land in that area, no additional folders are required, this is known as the 'root' folder.

Once the file has been processed, you can opt to receive an email notification which can have a results file attached.

With imports, the method can be either update or replace. Below are further details on the two methods.

Update Method
Nearly all of your imports loads will be classified as an update, including new data. This is used to add to the data already assigned to a product, for example, if you import categories as an update, the product(s) will then be assigned to the categories in the spreadsheet in addition to any it was assigned to before the import. If the field you are updating can contain only one value (text field, select dox or dropdown menu) then the field will be overwritten, for example when uploading Product Name, the field will be overwritten with the new data.

Replace Method
The replace option will be used mainly for selecting a new set of categories or images for a product. Uploading to these fields as a replace will remove any categories/images assigned to the product in place of those defined in the spreadsheet. When updating other fields that can only hold on value, such as the product name, description or price, this option will function in exactly the same way as the update option.
