If enabled, this feature will automatically redirect search terms so, unless manually overridden, searches for a category / brand / special category* or page name redirect directly to that page rather than show search results.
The benefit of this feature is that the customer will be automatically redirected to the relevant section of the website instead of being taken to a page of search results. The automation is not case sensitive, so if a customer searches for a term that is already in use as a title for one of your a categories, brands, special categories or pages titled the customer will be taken to that section of the website.
If you were to have a category, brand, special category and an information page all named identically, the order of priority is indicated in the list below, so in this example, the customer would be redirected to the category page.
Order of Priority: Category, Brand, Special Category then Information Page.
Click here to view and test this functionality on the Liquidshop Demo Website .
Categories: Search for the term 'Fashion' and note that you are taken to the Fashion category page.
Brands: Search for the term 'Canon' and note that you are taken to the Canon brand page.
Special Categories: Search for the term 'Reading' and note that you are taken to the Reading special category page.
Pages: Search for the term 'Contact' and note that you are taken to the Contact information page.
If you were to have two or more categories with the exact same name, redirect priority will be given to the category that was created first, the same applies for brands, special categories and information pages.
* Special Categories are also commonly referred to as collections.
